King Von Drops Off New Album ‘Welcome To O’Block’
Anyone with common sense knows that Chicago’s contribution to the music industry has been nothing short of immaculate over the years. From the 70s, 80s and 90s/early 00s scene to today, Chicago’s music scene has been top-tier. Along with reputable names like Lil Durk, Chief Keef, G Herbo, King Louie etc, King Von has been on a hot streak since the release of his 2018 breakout record “Crazy Story.” It almost seems as though something sparked inside of him because he didn’t slow down not one bit, even though his record was in heavy rotation across the country everyday. Today, Von keeps his momentum going by giving fans a warm Welcome To O’Block with his third studio album.
Since it’s arrival back in 2012, drill music has influenced the music industry in more ways than not. Spearheaded by Keef, Durk, Reese, Louie, Herbo, Bibby and more, the sub-genre opened up the floodgates for other areas to follow suit — New York drill to be exact. With King Von currently sitting at the forefront of drill music, he’s doing his due diligence of taking it to the next level. Earlier this year in March, he released his second studio album Levon James that further elevated his artistry. Including records like “Down Me” with Lil Durk, “On Yo Ass” with G Herbo and his infectious single “Took Her To The O,” the high anticipation for Welcome To O’Block was inevitable.
Welcome To O’Block is the perfect way for the OTF artist to give his fans an audible experience of his life and where he comes from. Often rapping about Chicago and his well-respected neighborhood, this album most certainly paints the vivid picture of his cinematic lyrics while portraying his stand-out cadences through each record. The album features musical contributions from Polo G, Lil Durk, Prince Dre, Dreezy, Fivio Foreign and Moneybagg Yo.
